PSSC Past Transformer Meet-up Participants (6-2026)
Genesis, far right in blue.
AUGUST 2026 – Genesis J. is a transplant survivor who brought her story and experience to the original planning process for the development of the PSSC Transformer’s Meetup (TM) Group during a round table discussion in August 2023. Participants who received stem cell and bone marrow transplants (BMT) were invited to the first official TM session in October 2023. Genesis shared her unique transforming story throughout the country and was well loved by the sickle cell community and beyond. Her presence and beautiful, infectious smile will be sorely missed by all. We pray for her family and all the friends who mourn her loss. Know that we will continue to be there to support individuals when they find themselves experiencing “New Life” and “New Awakenings.”
APRIL 2026 - James C. Jr. was a faithful participant of the PSSC Men’s Sickle Cell Support Circle (MSCSC). He would often be joining from his hospital bed to be in community with his fellow brothers. James was also active with the Maryland Sickle Cell Disease Association (MSCDA). We are thankful for all the PSSC warriors and advocates who supported him. James, may you rest in peace, no longer in pain from this disease or life circumstances. Know that our mission is to continue to do our part to bring awareness and support warriors living with this disease.
JAMES the PSSC - Men's Sickle Cell Support Circle (MSCSC) misses you
Brittany was passionate about “slay.the.sickle.cycle.”
JANUARY 2023 - Brittany H. began participating in December 2021 joining the PSSC Spiritual Support Group (SSG) and PSSC Bloodline podcast, recording sessions from her hospital bed. Often, she would be soft-spoken, but when the passion rose in her, her voice was strong, no nonsense, making it real and plain she would not accept less than what she felt she deserved. We are thankful for the other PSSC warriors who supported and advocated with and for her, and for her chaplain who was there when needed to pray and share a word of scripture with her. We will miss her, and her tenacity and we praise God that her voice will continue to be heard through her thoughts and ideas shared on the Bloodline podcasts. May Brittany, rest in peace in reunion with your mother who died before Christmas. Brittany, know that we will continue to do our part to “slay.the.sickle.cycle.”
