NEW VIRTUAL SUPPORT GROUP "TRANSFORMERS" MEET-UP

                        Project SPIRIT & SC Red

Transformers Meet-Up

Every First Tuesday  of the month 7:00-8:15 pm EST

For anyone making a decisions about undertaking a curative therapy for sickle cell                        or who may have experienced either a failed or a successful curative therapy.

Individuals who are contemplating, or undergone a sickle cell disease (SCD) curative therapy, (either failed or successful), face unique challenges. As individuals transition to a “new life” of physical, financial, emotional, societal, psychological, and spiritual concerns, “new awakenings" - feelings of anxiety, anger, confusion, and self-doubt emerge as they struggle to let go of the familiarity and expectations of living with sickle cell disease to facing the future with feelings of vulnerability. Some individuals may face feelings of guilt and condemnation that may be placed upon them by others.

Individuals who have undergone the procedure have spoken of their wish for and the need for more spiritual presence in the process of transplants from the beginning to the end. They mentioned the need for someone from the spiritual community to walk alongside them even through the consenting process and provide more support for their families.

Rev. Lorraine from PSSC, Inc and Teonna Woolford from SC Red are excited about this unified collaboration to support individuals who are exploring, recovering, or emerging to have this opportunity to learn from one another.
