ABOUT SICKLE CELL
PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING BLOOD TODAY
Did you know?
The need for blood donations is critical for individuals living with SCD who may require blood transfusions of 100 units of blood every year to treat the complications of the disease.
Did you also know?
Less than 10% of all Americans, of all races, donate blood.
Did you also know this fact?
Dr. Charles Drew was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. His name is used at blood drives sponsored by long-standing partners of the American Red Cross and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, to encourage minority blood donation, especially from the Black community to help support patients with sickle cell disease.
Finally, did you know?
If you are minority, a ‘blue tag’ will automatically be attached to your donation indicating your blood, (while usable for anyone) is also available for a patient with SCD. (see sample blue tag below).
